Update July 11, 2012

Implementation of the remedial work to construct the utility corridor was completed on July 6, 2012 with the completion of the capping system over the utility corridor area.  Site demobilization activities included the decontamination of remaining equipment and tools used during the implementation of the work, removal of temporary facilities such as the soil erosion and sediment control measures and the temporary office units and the general cleanup of the Site (e.g., removal of debris from the Site as well as the access points to the Site, broom sweeping of adjacent sidewalks and driveways, etc.).  After completion of the work, the Remedial Contractor demobilized from the Site at close of business on July 6, 2012.

The next steps for the Site are for National Grid and their Engineering Design Consultant to prepare the remedial design for the full scale remediation of the Site per the requirements of the March 2010 Record of Decision.  Once completed and the design approved by the NYSDEC, the Remedial Contractor will implement the design.

National Grid will continue to conduct periodic monitoring events of the Site groundwater through the collection and laboratory analysis of samples obtained from on and off-site monitoring wells. The website will be maintained, with regular updates resuming when field work begins. Reports will be posted to the Key Documents page as they are completed and approved by the NYSDEC.
